The Mass Spectrometry group attended the 61st ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics June 9th - 13th 2013 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in the USA.
The annual conference hosted by the American Society for Mass Spectrometry was held at the Minneapolis Convention Center in the vibrant 'City of the Lakes'. The conference enables the assembly of over 6,500 scientists and is described as 'one of the most dynamic scientific conferences in the world'.
Attendees from the BMRC included Professor Malcolm Clench, Dr Laura Cole, Robert Bradshaw, Ekta Patel, Christopher Mitchell and Afnan Batubara and everyone presented a poster. As part of professional development encouraged whilst undertaking a PhD studentship Ekta Patel attended a short course on 'Ion mobility'.
Posters presented were
Recombinant "IMS TAG" Proteins - A Method for Validating MALDI - Ion Mobility Separation - Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MALDI-IMS-MSI) by Malcolm Clench.
Potential Markers of Tumour Viability and Necrosis in CA-4-P Treated Fibrosarcomas Employing a Multimodal Proteomic Approach by Laura Cole.
Beyond the Ridge Pattern - Multi Informative Analysis of Latent Fingermarks by MALDI Mass Spectrometry by Robert Bradshaw,
MALDI-MS based identification of proteins and peptides in fingermarks presented by Ekta Patel.
MALDI-IMS-MSI examination of emollient treated living skin equivalent for lipidomic and small molecule analysis presented by Chris Mitchell.
Direct coupling of TLC with MALDI-TOF Mass spectrometry for Analysis of extracted phospholipids from a DMXAA treated xenograft tumour presented by Afnan Batubara
