Aim

To produce a bespoke tool for curling match analysis to replace the previous generic ‘pay by the hour’ services used by the SIS.

Impact

The tool was used in the lead up to and during the 2013 Curling World Championships, at which the Scottish Women’s Team won the Gold medal and the Men’s Team won the Bronze Medal. The system will continue to be used by Scottish Curling for both able bodied and disability curling as the standard method of data collection and match review for performance analysis. This includes a planned version 2 to be produced by CSER in the Autumn of 2013 in preparation for the lead up to the 2014 Winter Olympics.

I have spoken with Tony (wheelchair curling coach) following his trip to the US and his feedback on the system was good – he said tagging both teams was less stressful than tagging one team with the previous system. Tony didn’t use the video for this trip but he didn’t think including the video would add much stress either – so great feedback, thanks for all your hard work on this!
