A share of a pensioner's Christmas 'Bonus' - exhibition at the National Coal Mining Museum for England in Wakefield

Date: From Saturday 12 November 2016 to Monday 16 January 2017
Venue: National Coal Mining Museum for England, Caphouse Colliery, New Road, Wakefield WF4 4RH

A share of a pensioner's Christmas 'Bonus' tells the story of children of striking miners in 1984, and how acts of generosity by total strangers made their Christmas possible that year. The exhibition includes an audio work, photography and archive items from the collections of National Coal Mining Museum for England and the People’s History Museum.

There is an opening event and research day, Untold Stories of the Miners' Strike, on Saturday 12 November, 1pm-4pm. See booking details here.

The exhibition is a collaborative work between Esther Johnson and Debbie Ballin, part of a larger project titled Echoes of Protest investigating the legacy of being involved in significant protest movements from a child’s perspective.

You can read more about the exhibition at the museum's website here.
