Joanne Lee's photographic/audio essay, The Good Place That Is No Place, is showing as part of Lightworks Festival.  Commissioned by We Must Create and funded by Arts Council England, it responds to a specific site in the East Marsh area of Grimsby, one of the most deprived wards of North East Lincolnshire. It focuses on an area of 6 tower blocks and low rise maisonettes near Grimsby docks which are due to be demolished by Shoreline Housing in Spring 2017.

The work investigates ideas of home, belonging and Europe; discusses coastal towns, social housing and high-rise living; and uses the garden as a device to think about contemporary conceptions of utopia.

Artist Joanne Lee is Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design in the Sheffield Institute of Arts and a member of the Art & Design Research Centre.
