The organisers of Design4Health2013 are very pleased to announce that a 24hour Inclusive Design Challenge will be taking place as part of the conference. Teams of designers, medics, those living with chronic conditions and their carers will work through the night responding to a set brief to deliver well-resolved concepts to a team of judges.

The Design Challenge is facilitated by Julia Cassim, Visiting Senior Research Fellow of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at the Royal College of Art who developed the format. The Design Challenge runs across an unbroken 24 hours, with teams made up of professional designers, people living with a chronic condition, their carers and health professionals.

The event brings together people of different professions, chiefly designers, medics, and allied health professionals with people who live with chronic conditions (the design partners). This user-centred approach is powerful, with well-resolved concepts delivered at the end of the event. These concepts are judged by a panel of experts, who have intimate knowledge of the conditions and the design process.
