Constantius Tri Handoko
My interest is in Visual Arts. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication Design from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and my Masters of Humanities in Performing Arts and Fine Art Studies from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia. While on the Masters program I undertook research on tattoos and the act of tattooing among prisoners and detainees in Yogyakarta Prison.
More recently, I have been working at Petra Christian University as lecturer on Indonesian Arts and Cultural History and Seminar. I have also been working as an editor of Journal of Visual Communication Design 'Nirmana'.
Sheffield Hallam University's Cultural, Communication, and Computing Research Institute fits with my research topic relating to functions and meanings of tattoos amongst underground musicians and fans. The Institute provides me an environment in which my discipline can develop in its own approach and at the same time I can enrich my research ideas and discourses across my traditional subject boundaries by discussing my research topic with my other colleagues in the areas of arts, communication, and cultural studies.
I am currently working with my supervisors on how I can further develop my capacity and ability in the field of research methodology relating to my field of study.
