Esther Johnson's film Tune In screening in San Francisco gallery

Date: From Friday 11 November 2016 to Sunday 13 November 2016
Venue: The Lab, 2948 16th Street, San Francisco

Esther Johnson's short film Tune In has been selected for the San Francisco exhibition Light Field, which curates recent and historical moving image art on celluloid.  The film will screen at The Lab for Light Field's 11 November programme.

Commissioned by Film London, Tune In is a portrait of the fascinating world of amateur radio operators, better known as HAMS.  Dealing with the politics of space and social communication, the film blends documentary and abstract audio to reflect on the use of DIY radio equipment in an ever-changing modern world.

Esther Johnson (MA Royal College of Art) is an artist and filmmaker working at the intersection of artist moving image and documentary portraiture.  www.blanchepictures.com.  She is a Reader in Media Arts at Sheffield Hallam University.
