RIBA Annual Lecture 2011 - Thomas Heatherwick
The annual RIBA Lecture gives an eminent non-architect the opportunity to explore a theme that challenges the architecture profession and stimulates wider debate. This year renowned designer Thomas Heatherwick will consider the blurring of boundaries between design and architecture and pose the question 'When does design become architecture?' Thomas is an Honorary Fellow of the RIBA, Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art and Honorary Doctor of Sheffield Hallam University.
Heatherwick Studio, established in 1994, has a team of over 60 people, with various backgrounds including architecture, product design, modelmaking, landscape design and fine art. His British Pavilion for the Shanghai Expo won the 2010.
