After I completed my BA in Education, majoring in Mathematics, at the College of Teachers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, I was employed at the Ministry of Education as a teacher for six years. I delivered lectures in mathematics, developed extracurricular activities, held several training courses in the field of education, management, and communication skills.
In September 2008, I gained my Master’s degree in Educational Administration at Umm Al-Qura University. Since then, I have been a lecturer at King Abdul-Aziz University, Communication Department (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia). I have taught Mass Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Cultural Communication and Communication Skills.
I am currently researching 'Social Networking Sites in Higher Education' to obtain my PhD in Media and Communication. I chose Sheffield Hallam University because of its high reputation for excellence, its location, and because of a number of personal recommendations from good friends and associates.
Furthermore, the members of staff at the Research Centre have been extremely helpful, friendly and informative, and this has given me the confidence that I will receive the professional support I need in my research project.
I'm fascinated with social media and communication studies, particularly their applications in education field. I believe that conducting this research project and working with my supervisors in this field will help me better understand different areas and sub-areas of social media studies in order to achieve my academic goals.
