Lead investigator Hora Soltani

Dates January 2010 - January 2011
Management of the third stage of labour is a major concern in relation to maternal mortality and morbidity, as well as neonatal well-being across the world. A scoping exercise to identify background information on the management of the third stage of labour is essential in delivering an appropriate intervention and designing effective policies in improving maternal and neonatal health. This study will explore various patterns of care management in the third stage of labour in Iran.
This international project, developed in collaboration with the European Project on Haemorrhage Reduction (EUPHRATES) and academics in Iran, aims to provide information pertinent to developing policies with a global impact on reducing maternal mortality and morbidity. The World Health Organisation support for this collaborative project aims to facilitate research capacity development in other less resourced countries.
