An evaluation of a simulation-based educational programme to equip HCAs with the necessary non-technical skills to undertake their role safely and effectively
Healthcare Assistants in the UK provide 40-60% of care but receive very little in the way of training. This pilot study evaluated their care performance in the safe environment of a simulated patient. We found that everyone improved from our training programme but that self-reports of performance did not correlate with observed performance in the simulation.
