To develop an application for study encouraging individuals at the high risk of developing cardiovascular disease, due to suffering from depression, to routinely engage in physical activity.
Two NHS Mental Health Trusts and Sheffield Hallam University have been working to develop an intervention comprising motivational enhancement and physical activity interventions to reduce the risk of CVD among patients suffering from depression. Patients referred by general practitioners to mental health services in Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham will be given an opportunity to participate in motivational interventions and physical activity interventions.
