MERI Research Support Team

We provide support for research activity across the Materials and Engineering Research Institute, such as grant applications and awards (research council, public sector, EU and commercial), admissions and progression on research degrees, submission of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, research events, CPD courses, Health and Safety, governance processes and the provision of research-related management information. 

Research degrees

The team delivers the admissions function for PhD/MPhil materials and engineering research degrees, and supports the progression of students through their life cycle.

Strategy support and implementation

The team co-ordinates the activities in preparing for the REF for MERI's Unit Of Assessment (UOA). This includes the monitoring of impact, impact planning, data management, peer assessment, monitoring of outputs and so on.

Research grants and contracts

The team provides advice on the submission of grant applications and the University's authorisation process for pre-submission.

Post-award support

The team provides post-award administration of externally funded research grants and contracts. 

MERI research activities

The team provides support for all other College based research activities, including CPD delivery, and event delivery such as symposiums, interdisciplinary events, as well as MERI specific Health and Safety requirements.
