Skills and study
We offer courses to develop Food Engineering professionals of the future. Our courses were designed in close partnership with the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink and the Food and Drink Federation, including companies such as Coca-Cola Enterprises, Mondelēz International, McCain Foods, Premier Foods, Nestlé UK and PepsiCo UK.
Our strong links with leading organisations ensure we can provide real-world examples that support academic studies and broaden industry knowledge, through case studies, factory site visits and guest lectures. Many of our partners offer industrial placements to students studying at Sheffield Hallam.
The University houses specialist engineering and food laboratories, and the centre will contain state of the art facilities that enable students to participate in advanced-level research. We've also launched the UK's first degree apprenticeship in Food Engineering.
By educating the professionals of tomorrow, we can ensure highly qualified engineers enter the industry with the knowledge and skills to help grow the sector. In addition, we offer talent development by providing training and continuing professional development for food industry professionals.
‘Our industry’s ability to achieve our ambition of growing 20% by 2020 through driving innovation lies very much in the hands of our employees, particularly our future engineers. This is why businesses from across the industry have pledged their support and worked together to create the MEng Food Engineering degree at Sheffield Hallam University, developing the next generation of advanced engineers and leaders of the future.’
Angela Coleshill, director of employment and skills at the Food and Drink Federation
