The Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre (SPARC) sits within the Academy for Sport and Physical Activity.
It is divided into four research groups:
- Physical Activity, Wellness and Public Health
- Sport and Human Performance
- Sport Engineering Research
- Sport Industry Research
These research groups reflect the strategic activity and vision of SPARC and align closely with the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing and wider University objective of becoming the world’s leading applied University.
SPARC research groups carry out internationally renowned, world-class research in sport performance, physical activity and health, sport business and economics and sport engineering.
All SPARC staff work closely with the recently launched Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) which is a world leading £14m research centre with a purpose-built building opening in January 2020 on the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.
