Charities and Trusts
We are experienced in providing a range of services to charities and trusts, not only in the sport and leisure industry. This is because we understand that third sector organisations require cost-effective solutions, often within limited time scales, and therefore we pride ourselves on meeting clients' needs in time and in budget. Our experience, has allowed us to build up a portfolio of services from reporting valuable insight to your organisation through major project evaluations, to providing basic services such as designing or processing surveys to support your internal projects.
We also understand that generating income is vital to your organisation. We therefore offer a bid writing service to help you identify, bid for and source funding and we can prepare high quality reports based on your internal project findings to ensure you are able to communicate your charities successes effectively.
The Centre has examined a range of school sport initiatives on behalf of the Youth Sport Trust over the last three years, including School Sport Clubs, and the Leadership Coaching and Volunteering programme. We have taken a mixed methods approach, employing a variety of survey, interview and Innovation Lab techniques to produce over 20 case studies.
We are proud of our record for research into voluntary sports clubs, not least the 2009 survey of UK clubs on behalf of the Sport and Recreation Alliance (formerly known as CCPR). This online survey collected data from over 3,000 clubs in more than 50 sports to compile a comprehensive assessment of their viability from both a financial and a competitive viewpoint. We were able to produce not only a detailed report of the overall picture, but also a series of sport- and area-specific mini reports to meet the requirements of National Governing Bodies and County Sports Partnerships. This remains the largest survey of its nature ever conducted in the UK, and our staff have presented and published findings in a number of academic and professional settings.
In 2012 we carried out research for the English Federation of Disability Sport which examined the relationships between national and regional organisations, and their effect on the governance and management of disability sport. We used a combination of telephone interviews and focus groups to speak to 80 individuals in 10 organisations representing key stakeholders.
