Your clearing application will be assessed on your qualification results. But we’ll also take your other accreditations and experiences into account.
You can also apply through clearing if you haven’t received all your grades yet.
If we do make you an offer, it will be conditional on your results—a final decision will be made when your grades have been confirmed.
If you’ve achieved better grades than you needed for your first choice, you could use clearing to find a course or university you’d prefer.
This is known as adjustment. It’s entirely optional, and if you don't find a place on an alternative course, you can stick with your original university place.
Find out more at the UCAS adjustment webpage.
Did you know that you can apply through clearing even if you’re holding a place at another university?
If we offer you a place, make sure you wait until you receive your confirmation email. You’ll then need to contact the University where you currently have a place to request to be released.
You will also need to inform Student Finance England that you have changed university.
Once you've been released from your current place you can't change your mind and go back to your initial selection, so it's important to be sure about your decision!
Clearing is available to international and EU applicants. We’ll take details of your qualifications over the phone and you’ll be sent a questionnaire to complete.
Because of this, we can’t make you an immediate offer but we do aim to respond to your application within 48 hours.
Our step-by-step guide will help you through the clearing process.
