Study a course designed to help you enter the rail industry and advance your career.
This course enables school and college leavers to develop engineering knowledge and skills relevant to the rail industry. For those already employed in the rail industry we offer a part time HNC Railway Engineering and FdEng Railway Engineering.
During the course you develop your knowledge and understanding of railway engineering principles, theory and practice and their application in railway engineering technologies. It also provides you with the academic basis to support further study, for example by progression to our FdEng Railway Engineering and BEng Railway Engineering.
The course aims to produce high quality rail engineering specialists, with the academic knowledge and professional and personal skills for a successful career in rail or other engineering industries.
You study mathematics, engineering principles, legislative and business studies, rail specific engineering and take modules with rail industry applications.
Whilst being a stand alone qualification, the HNC also provides the underpinning studies required for direct entry to Level 5 of the FdEng Railway Engineering and BEng Railway Engineering, which have a number of pathways available.
The course delivers industry relevant curriculum content that not only covers the fundamentals of engineering, but also delivers railway specific material based on the present and new technologies.
