Application timeline

When What

From 4 September 2019

You can apply for our 2020 undergraduate courses

Apply online through UCAS. You can save your application form as you go along, so you don't need to complete it all at once.

From December 2019

Apply for accommodation at Sheffield Hallam

Once you have received an offer and made your firm and insurance choices you can apply for accommodation.

15 January 2020

Equal consideration deadline for the majority of undergraduate courses

If your application is received by UCAS by 18:00 (UK time) on 15 January 2020 it is guaranteed to be considered by the universities you have applied to. We accept and consider applications after the initial UCAS deadline, so you can still apply through UCAS after this date.

From February 2020

Apply for student funding

Apply through Student Finance England. Find out more on the government's website.

25 February 2020

UCAS Extra opens

If you've used all five of your choices and you've not received any offers you might be able to add another choice through UCAS Extra.

Before 20 May 2020

Find out if you have an offer

If you applied by 15 January you should receive a decision on your application from us by 2 May, via UCAS Track. (Don't panic if you haven't! Call our admissions team on 0114 225 5533.)

If you're offered a place, it will be one of three types.

  • Conditional offer - you have been offered a place as long as you meet the conditions (usually based on your results).
  • Sheffield Hallam Achievement offer - we consider you to be an exceptionally strong candidate and we're confident that you will achieve the grades that you are predicted. We will waive the academic conditions of your offer, meaning that your place with us is guaranteed. Your results are still very important to your future employability and ability to succeed at University so you should still work hard to meet or exceed your predicted grades.
  • Unconditional offer - you have been offered a place without any further conditions. So if you accept, you're definitely on the course.

18 June 2020

Reply to your offer by today
(if you received decisions from everywhere you applied to by 4 June)

It’s time to pick two universities on UCAS Track - your firm choice (first choice) and your insurance choice (second choice).

Making your firm and insurance choice is an important decision so UCAS have now updated their timeline and given you more time to make that decision. You don’t need to wait until 18 June to make your decision, but do research your options thoroughly before making your firm and insurance choice.
