Support for students

You need to be able to concentrate on your studies, so we make sure it's easy for you to get help and information when you need it. Our Student and Learning Services (SLS) is the first point of contact for a range of support services including careers advicestudent advice and information drop in service, counselling and a multifaith chaplaincy.

Libraries and IT facilities

Our ground-breaking and popular Learning Centres combine PCs, library and media resources, a range of study spaces and learner support. A new extension to the Learning Centre at City Campus was completed in 2008, incorporating flexible learning spaces and an area to eat and drink.

We're open seven days a week, 24 hours a day (during peak times) with self-service machines to make things easier and security staff to ensure a safe environment. Our friendly, professional staff are here to help you make the most of our extensive electronic and printed resources and your precious time. We'll show you how to access resources and develop the skills you need to study effectively.

You can connect your wi-fi laptop to our network for free, and access most of our electronic resources from off-campus via MyHallam. Find out more.

Helping you find part-time work

We understand that many students need to work part-time. Our netWORK employment service can help you find a part-time job while you study, a temporary job during the vacation, or a job after you have graduated.

With Sport Hallam, the University's sports facilities, you can enjoy recreational and competitive sport and fitness activities throughout the year at every level without breaking the bank. Three levels of membership mean you can pick the one that suits you best.

Our nursery on Collegiate Crescent Campus provides full and part day care for children aged four months to five years. You will need to apply early to make sure you get a place, particularly for very young children.
