Shopping in the city

We asked our students where they go for a bit of retail therapy in Sheffield and came back with a list of the best places to shop in the city.

Meadowhall

We're home to one of the biggest shopping malls in Europe. From Primark and H&M to Hugo Boss and Kurt Geiger, Meadowhall has all the big brands and designers you'd possibly need. Plus, there are regular student lock-ins throughout the year, where you can get discounts on all your purchases.
@Lovemeadowhall

'We spend quite a lot of time here because it’s got everything. If it’s just me and my husband we’ll eat at Las Iguanas or Zizzis, but little one loves Harvester for the salad bar.'

Division Street

A student hotspot for independent and vintage shopping, Division Street is right in the middle of Sheffield city centre. Try Vulgar and Freshman's for vintage clothing and MoonKo for arty makes from small business owners and creatives.

'MoonKo is a lovely place for gifts. The stock is by independent artists, so there’s a range of styles. They do events too – I did a botanical drawing workshop there.'

Ecclesall Road

Right at the foot of our Collegiate Campus, Ecclesall Road is one of Sheffield's biggest student areas. There are lots of bars, cafés and restaurants, and an array of independent boutiques and charity shops to explore too. Keep an eye out for Cocoa Wonderland, a handmade chocolate shop and café.

High street shopping around Fargate

Our city campus is a two-minute walk from Sheffield's high street area, so you're never too far from some sweet retail therapy. We've got high street brands like Topshop, River Island and Paperchase, coffee shops and cafés, and department stores like M&S and John Lewis, so there's plenty to browse between lectures.

'I spend a lot of time in Waterstones. It's the best one in Sheffield – there’s one in Meadowhall too but it isn’t as good. I always head to the poetry section, which is really big for a Waterstones.'

The Moor

This shopping and leisure space in the city centre has undergone big renovations to welcome fresh, new spaces including a cinema, gym, food market and a number of big brand shops.
@moorsheffield

'There are so many shops here. You can do your food shopping and your clothes shopping in one place. And there are two Greggs, which is good for lunch if I can’t be bothered to cook.'
