Taruka Srivastav studied a masters in sports journalism, and as part of her course she undertook an internship at Manchester United Football Club.
‘The experiences I gained were valuable because they were practical. They have given me what I need for my future career.
‘My internship at Manchester United Football Club was a dream come true for anyone who loves sport. The highlight for me was the opportunity to interview England captain Wayne Rooney. I worked in the digital production team and I even had a chance to interview Manchester United players before their FA Cup final win.
‘I was awarded funding from the University which meant I was able to take up the internship. My department helped me apply for a grant from the Careers and Employability Centre to cover my travel costs to Manchester.
‘The help and support I gained from the careers service was phenomenal. They helped me to create an effective skill-based CV, which I now know is just what employers look for.
‘If you want to broaden your horizons, not just in terms of work but life in general, then this is the place to be.’
