Keep fit, compete and have fun
Sheffield was the UK's first National City of Sport, and the city regularly hosts major sporting events in venues including world-class swimming and diving pools, and two major football stadiums (Sheffield United Football Club and Sheffield Wednesday Football Club).
If you want to try something new, we have 43 sports clubs, including hockey, badminton and rowing. You don't have to be on the team to take part - we run social sessions and over 40 fitness classes every week. It could be good for your wallet as well as your health - our sports researchers have found that participating in sport at university can boost your earnings.
A highlight of the year is the annual Varsity competition, when 2,000 students from Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield compete in over 50 fixtures. Whether you're competing or cheering the teams on, it's a great way to experience the Sheffield Hallam team spirit. And there could be plenty to celebrate - we've won it 10 times out of 17.
