Need support getting to our open day?

We may be able to provide support for those whose personal circumstances may mean there are barriers to attending an open day. If you are in one of the listed groups below and are struggling to cover travel costs to attend our open day – please get in touch by emailing SHU-Progress@shu.ac.uk with the subject header ‘Open Day Travel’ and details of which category you meet from the list below, as you may be eligible to receive support to attend:

  • Care leavers
  • Estranged students
  • Carers/young carers
  • Refugees and asylum seekers
  • Homeless or at risk of homelessness

Terms and Conditions

  • We have a limited number of travel tickets and these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis
  • We can only fund the cost of public transport within the UK
  • We are only able to fund public transport costs for yourself and 1 supporter
  • We will buy public transport tickets on your behalf and send these to you before the event (approximately 2 weeks in advance)
  • We are not responsible for any tickets which you do not receive, or which are lost or stolen
  • We are not responsible for any issues you may experience while you are travelling on public transport to and from the university
  • It is your responsibility to ensure you travel on the correct transport which the ticket is valid for
  • It is your responsibility to carry any discount cards with you which your ticket was bought with e.g. 16-25 Railcard
  • If you carry any discount cards, it is your responsbility to ensure that they are currently in date
  • If you provide us with incorrect details, we are not liable for the purchase of new tickets
  • In order to arrange your transport, we may contact you regarding the booking, any delay in speaking to you may mean we are unable to provide you with tickets in advance
  • Sheffield Hallam University reserves the right to withdraw/amend the offer provided or refuse a request at any time
