New international students
If you are an international postgraduate taught or undergraduate applicant, you are required to pay £3,000 deposit before you receive your Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS) from Sheffield Hallam University. You will then also pay an additional £5,000 before you enrol at the University. Please refer to the Frequently asked questions below for more information.

Does this apply to all new International students?
The following groups of students are excluded from this policy and should refer to their offer letter for required deposit and pre-payment amounts:
• International students enrolling on Postgraduate Research Degrees (PhD)
• Applicants from Bangladesh
• Applicants who received their offer before 2 December 2022.
I am progressing on to the first year of my Undergraduate degree from the International Foundation Programme (IFP), what should I deposit/pre-pay ahead of enrolment?
Students progressing from the IFP to their Undergraduate course should refer to their offer letter, which details the deposit and pre-payment due.
I am progressing on my course, either in to the next year of my Undergraduate degree, or Postgraduate degree, does the new policy apply to me?
No, the new policy does not apply to progressing students, whom should continue to make semester payments as previously informed.
Students going on to their placement year or, repeating modules, are also classed as progressing students.
I deferred my place, what should I deposit/pre-pay ahead of enrolment?
Applicants should refer to their offer letter, which details the deposit and pre-payment due.
I have a discount/bursary/scholarship, when will this be taken in to account?
All discounts/bursaries/scholarships will be deducted from the second instalment of tuition fee due, to be paid ahead of Semester 2.
I am a sponsored student, what should my sponsor deposit/pre-pay ahead of enrolment?
No payment is required from your sponsor, but you do need to supply Admissions with a sponsor letter.
Following receipt of this letter, your records will be updated and our Finance team will invoice your sponsor directly.
My course fee is equal to or less than £8,000, what should I deposit/pre-pay ahead of enrolment?
All fees should be paid prior to enrolment, £3,000 deposit to secure your place, followed by the remainder of your fees prior to enrolment.
