Read for wellbeing

Lots of us enjoy the pleasure that reading brings – like that feeling when you just can’t put the book down, that time slips away as you immerse yourself in the text and step out of reality for a short while.

Research shows that there are variety of health benefits from reading as it can help to explore ways to connect with ourselves more and improve our wellbeing.

Reading for wellbeing involves reading specific books which are relevant to your situation and the things you are going through. It can be comforting and reassuring to know that you are not the only one facing these issues. Messages around hope and recovery are poignant reminders that mental health and wellbeing is something that we all have and all strive towards.

For many people reading about a particular topic or issue is the first step in seeking support. You will see relevant books recommended by practitioners in many of our support topic pages.
