Holidays are coming

Enjoy your break! The University will close at 4pm on Friday, 24 December and will reopen on Tuesday, 4 January. Whether you’re in halls or at home, we have a range of support and activities available to students during this time.

Test before you travel

Don’t take Covid-19 home for the Christmas break. Take a lateral flow test before travelling between university and your home address. Pick up free test kits at Hallam Help points on campus.

Support with exams and wellbeing

Want to get ready for your exams without the stress? We’ve brought together all our resources, technology and support to help you get prepared for your exams while taking care of your wellbeing.

Access to technical spaces

From 9am, 20 December to 5pm, 23 December access to our specialist technical spaces for self-directed learning will be limited. During this time, check the availability of spaces with your course tutor, email ! Technical support or visit Blackboard (via MyHallam). Thereafter, the facilities will close until 4 January 2022.

Looking to get ahead with your study? A range of online resources and some services – including Studiosity – are still available over the Christmas break.

CEO for the day

Would you like to spend a day with an industry-leading CEO? Successful undergraduate applicants will learn what it takes to manage some of Britain’s leading organisations, such as ITV, Direct Line, Harvey Nichols and The FA.

Hallam Help: expected delays

Please be aware of potential delays with Hallam Help and extension requests over the Christmas break. Staff return on 4 January 2022 and will reply to you as soon as possible. Please be patient and do not submit a duplicate enquiry.

Hallam Help - your first point of contact when you need advice and support about your studies and life at University, or help to understand the University’s services and processes. The team will help you to access specialist support, if you need it. You can find the answers to frequently asked questions online or you can contact us directly via our live chat service, by phone, email or visiting us on campus at one of our help points in Owen level 5, Adsetts and Collegiate Libraries and Heart of the Campus.


MyHallam - your gateway to Blackboard, My Student Record and all your online tools including wellbeing support and resources.


The Library and Skills Centre - open 24/7 providing a range of learning spaces, including those for individual and group working. We encourage you to book your learning space in advance, but there will be walk up spaces available on a first come basis. The bookshelves are open for browsing and borrowing is self-service. You can make requests for books that we don't have with Document Supply Services. Your Library Online provides access to books, journals, databases, subject support, the Skills Centre, and 24/7 Library Chat.
