About

Dr Shqiperim Reka is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality Management at Sheffield Hallam University. He is passionate about helping students develop a career in tourism. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules on topics such as "Introduction to the Global Tourism Sector", "Managing Visitor Attractions", and "Tourism Planning and Development". Dr Reka's teaching style is engaging and interactive, and he encourages students to think critically about the tourism industry. He is also a dedicated Course Leader and Research Supervisor.

Dr Reka completed his PhD in 2017 on the topic of "Tourism governance in post-war transition, the case of Kosovo". During his PhD research, he worked as a Tourism Consultant for Kosovo Alternative Tourism Association, where he helped to generate income for live projects and gained support from a local government in Kosovo and international development agencies. He also contributed to the establishment of the first Tourist Information Office in the capital of Kosovo, Prishtina, and organised several other initiatives, including a tourism job fair and an annual wine festival.

Dr Reka's research interests include image restoration of post-war countries through mega and major events, tourism governance in transition, and tourism planning in a divided society.
