Anil Hormis is a Consultant in Anaesthesia, Critical Care & Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) and Honorary Professor at Sheffield Hallam University since 2017. He has interests in Orthopaedic Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia, Major Trauma Anaesthesia and Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine.

His Clinical training in Anaesthesia and Critical Care has been in Sheffield, Birmingham and London. He completed Fellowship training in Major Trauma Anaesthesia at the Royal London Hospital and with London's Air Ambulance. He has also been a Flight Physician with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance for 12 years and is currently working with the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

He sits on the ALS Sub-Committee of the Resus Council UK as well as the Executive Board of the British Society for Orthopaedic Anaesthetists (BSOA). He is an active member of many Anaesthesia associations and societies. He was the Training Programme Director (TPD) for Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine for Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber from 2014-2018.

He has helped develop a number of national guidelines including being an Expert Advisor to the NICE Medical Technologies Evaluation Programme on Inhaled Sedation in the Critical Care Unit.

Prof. Hormis has co-authored 90+ articles, comments and letters in peer-reviewed journals and has written several chapters and books.
