Lecturer

Summary

I am a migrant academic interested in the politics of power, resistance and social change. My current research focuses on (un)just energy transitions.

About

I joined SHU in July 2023, after completing my PhD in sociology at the University of Essex. I hold a BSc in international relations and an MA in political science. Previously I taught at the University of Essex, Royal Holloway and SOAS University of London.

Prior to joining the higher education sector in a full-time post, I worked as an international development practitioner for more than 15 years. I held several policy, leadership and research roles in non-governmental organisations, UN agencies and EU technical assistance projects. My work spanned a broad range of topics including community-based conservation, refugee resilience and women’s empowerment and gender equality.
