Gerry is a senior physiotherapy lecturer and UG physiotherapy admissions tutor. She specialises in neurological physiotherapy and teaches across all undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is module leader for the level 6 complex case management module.

She qualified as a physiotherapist in 1997. After completing junior rotations at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, she specialised clinically in both acute and long-term management of neurological conditions. She developed new roles and lead services within the NHS in stroke rehabilitation, neurological inpatients and out-patients. She also worked privately as a specialist neurological physiotherapist in a Neurological Rehabilitation Unit, which specialised in Brain Injury Rehabilitation.

She started working full time as a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University in 2008, initially part time and then more recently full time. Gerry has also taught internationally.

Gerry is now admissions tutor for the undergraduate physiotherapy course, but has also recently taken a shared course leader post for the new MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-Registration) course.

She is an experienced module leader, and has lead neurological physiotherapy modules at levels 5 and 6. She currently leads the level 6 module complex case management.
