About
After fulfilling the role of Finance Manager in the outsourcing sector for a number of years I became a Lecturer in Accounting at The Sheffield Business School, part of the College of Business, Technology and Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University.
With twelve years working in Higher Education my specialisms include Financial Management, Corporate Reporting and Social and Environmental Accounting, leading undergraduate modules in all these areas. I have also worked with a number of organisations supporting undergraduate students in delivering consultancy services as part of their final year studies.
I have held many roles whilst at Hallam including collaborative course leader for Trans-National Partnerships, Department Employability Lead and more recently designing and delivering content for Higher Degree Apprenticeships and Executive Education programmes. I have been involved in the delivery of the Help to Grow Management (HtGM) curriculum since its inception, both as a finance theme specialist and as a Development Consultant, guiding business leaders through the whole course.
Previous research includes a comparative study of HE courses in Finance in the UK and Botswana and carbon emission verification for businesses in the UK. My current research focuses on Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) and their use of strategic performance measures. I am also collaborating on a case study focusing on how UK based SME’s account and report sustainability related matters.
I am an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
