Summary

I am the Subject Group Leader for Strategic Management, Enterprise & Organisational Change at Sheffield Business School and lead the Managing Strategy module on all MBA courses. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, a Fellow of Higher Education Academy as well as being an active non-executive Director. 

 

About

I initially trained as an IT specialist but has a wide-ranging background spanning both public and private sectors from education and local government to military weapons and IT systems at all levels of management. Before joining Sheffield Hallam, I was the Director of Enterprise for the Government's business support service in the Yorkshire region where he was responsible for services supporting pre-start up and young businesses. I have a doctorate in management studies (DBA), a master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), am a fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a tutor member of the Institute of Leadership & Management.

My research is primarily concerned with the institutions of social and co-operative enterprise with a particular focus on the legal structures of social enterprises. I am the Subject Group Leader for Strategic Management, Enterprise & Organisational Change at Sheffield Business School and lead the Managing Strategy module on all MBA courses. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, a Fellow of Higher Education Academy as well as being an active non-executive Director. I am an active researcher in the field of Social & Community Enterprise and am a member of the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR). Additionally, I am an active contributor at social enterprise conferences, and was a member of the scientific committee for the 7th EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise where I was chaired a conference track on Public policy and legal frameworks for Social Enterprise. I have a wide range of teaching experience, but my current teaching activity mainly centres on several MBA and CMDA modules in the areas of Strategy, Leadership & Organisational Change.
