Summary
I am a full time lecturer in Sport Business Management. My area of focus is currently on management and leadership practice, the sport governance landscape, events and partnership management and strategic planning.
About
I began teaching at Sheffield Hallam University in 2021 across Sport Business Management & Development modules. I started my academic journey at SHU in 2012 as an undergraduate student in Sport Development with Coaching, before moving onto work for the Youth Sport Trust; working with National Tutors to prepare delivery materials as well as managing volunteer groups for various national events.
I moved to the public sector of sport, working at the National Governing Body- Snowsport England; initially as their events & participation lead; designing, developing and delivering national events to encourage higher participation across various disciplines within the sport. My role changed slightly to 'Campaigns & Partnerships Lead,' reflecting a focus on more of the business aspects of the organisation whereby I worked with more strategic partners and handled sponsors and their contracts with the organisation. I also lead on the organisation's equality, diversity and inclusion strand- where I spent a lot of my time writing a policy to represent the strategic direction for the organisation in this area which was published in 2020.
During the pandemic, I started to deliver some online guest lectures around sports governance for the University which lead into a more active teaching role as an associate lecturer, before I started full time in 2021. Currently, my teaching focus is around management and leadership practices in organisations, understanding the sport governance landscape and the strategic positioning and direction of sporting organisations.
