Maria is a Principal Lecturer / Senior Researcher who joined Health and Social Care in March 2008. Prior to this she was a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University after 17 years as a physiotherapist in the NHS. Since joining the Centre she has undertaken research which predominantly focuses on older people.
Currently Maria's research focusses on treatment decision making in older women with breast cancer. This is a national study funded by the NIHR. Maria is also involved in a multi-disciplinary research project to design protective wear for the armed forces and front line emergency staff.
