Marie Judge BA (Hons), PGCE

Summary

I have worked at Sheffield Hallam University since 2010 as a member of the Design and Technology Education Team. Prior to this I had a role in a special needs school as Curriculum Manager for Design and Technology, Science and ICT. I began my teaching career in Nottingham in 2003 where I started as an Newly Qualified Teacher and worked up to Second in Department, helping to manage and lead a team of fourteen staff and technicians. Before this I spent time as a Youth Worker in inner London working with young people from various backgrounds and circumstances. I’ve also worked as a Graphic Designer/Artworker in London.

About

I am passionate about Design and Technology and turning interested students into brilliant teachers who understand their responsibility as role models to the young people they teach. Design and Technology is a subject which requires a range of skills and abilities, teaching it has it's challenges and rewards. It’s an exciting subject, always changing and moving forward and allowing individuals to use their creativity in all they do. I am interested in cross curricular teaching and utilising the combined skills and experience of individuals to deliver quality lessons which are engaging, relevant and progressive, particularly within the STEM subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

I co-ordinate our Creative Spark exhibition in June and work on the Year 13 Engineering Diploma.
