Course Leader in MSc/PGD Advanced Sport Coaching Practice

Summary

Michelle has considerable experience of leading the development and implementation of performance coach education strategies through her work with NGBs at Sport Coach UK and performance coaches over the last fifteen years, delivering specialist coach development programmes. She has recently developed a Performance Coaching MSC/PGD for Sheffield Hallam University and British Judo which has been accredited by the UK Coaching Standards Group to fulfil the requirements of the UKCC Level 4 NGB Master Coach. In addition she is an accredited Executive Coach through the European Coach Mentoring Scheme and a coach mentor for Olympic and High Performance Coaches from across a wide variety of sports.

About

Michelle is a qualified Senior Lecturer/Course Leader at Sheffield Hallam University, currently leading the delivery of an MSC in Advanced Sport Coaching Practice, managing a team of over 25 specialists in coach education and sport science from across the Academy of Sport. This course is currently being delivered to  Olympic and performance coaches from across a range of sports. She designed the course to recognise the busy nature and diverse educational needs and backgrounds of performance coaches whilst supporting them to access and apply the latest research, technology and innovation in their coaching practice.

She has over 20 years experience as a Senior Coach Development Manager, National Governing Body Programme Manager and was the strategic delivery lead for UK Coaching Framework. Her extensive knowledge and experience of developing specialist coaching programmes has enabled me to lead and manage some of the largest programmes in the UK including World Class Start/Potential, the UK Coaching Framework and UKCC. Her strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others have enabled me to guide and influence Boards of Directors, Chief Executive Officers, Operational Managers, Coach Education and Performance Managers and the wider workforce within all NGBs across the UK. She has advised and guided NGBs to plan and deliver their Whole Sport Plans, Participant and Coach Development programmes and UKCC. She has successfully implemented change to deliver the UK Coaching Strategy and aligned delivery across all areas of sport including enhanced participant, coaching and volunteering provision.

In addition to her strategic and operational management knowledge and expertise, Michelle has worked with individual NGBs such as football, cricket, rugby union and rugby league to develop bespoke programmes of education and CPD for female performance coaches. She is currently an advisor to NGBs on the development and implementation of UKCC Level 4 Master Coach Programme and recently worked with Sport Coach UK to develop a flexible programme of support for elite level coaches from across a wider range of sports.

As an executive coach, mentor and tutor Michelle would describe myself as visionary and creative. She doesn't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and thinks she has the ability to drive change through my dynamic and solution focused approach. She has excellent interpersonal skills and can effectively communicate and influence change.
