Naomi Perry MA
Senior Lecturer, Interim Art Psychotherapy Course Lead
Summary
Co-production is at the heart of my practice. I also believe in the healing power of play and incorporate this in my work as educator, art therapist and course lead.
About
After qualifying as an Art Psychotherapist, I gained most of my experience in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services across South Yorkshire. I am currently joint interim course lead (shared with Caroline Rhodes) and have worked on the Art Therapy Northern Programme for over 10 years. Although I spend most of my teaching time with first year students I am also involved in teaching at all stages of the programme. I work part-time at Sheffield Hallam University and have a small portfolio of work for the remainder of the week. As an educator it’s important to me to keep my art therapy practice current. I have a small practice working with children and young people within educational settings, work privately and co-founder/director of a Community Interest Company called ‘Arts Transform’.
Before training as an art therapist, I worked for many years in social housing and I am particularly interested in working with children, families and adults who are most hard to reach. I strongly believe that every individual has the capacity to heal. Co-production between client and therapist is at the core of my therapeutic work and my approach to teaching.
