About

I began teaching in 1996 at Bretton Hall College on the Graphic Design course, moving to a senior lecturer post at The University of Lincoln in 2000 and to Leeds Metropolitan in 2003.

Since 2006 I have remained at Sheffield Hallam University, becoming a principal lecturer in 2010. I have held many posts at Hallam from course leader to my current associate head role.

I have always been interested in working closely with industry in order to inspire and engage students in their future careers and opportunities. This interest now supports the Future Now initiative in The College of Social Sciences & Arts, creating opportunities for collaboration both internally and externally.

2024/5 Accelerated Knowledge Transfer Project

With St Luke's Hospice Charity — Circular fashion and charity retail. This project is exploring the donation and sorting process in order to maximise income from donations of clothing to St Luke's.

Since 2010 Co-Founder: Curated by... Lecture & Conference Series at Sheffield Hallam

Curated by... is an ongoing set of guest lectures and events, open to students and practitioners. Initiated by Pam Bowman and Matt Edgar.

Curated by... has been host to internationally renowned speakers over recent years and is generating a carefully selected collection of influences and inspiration, including submissions from key practitioners who have not yet been part of the event programme.

Curated by... is open to the public and has attracted design industry professionals, alumni, and students from other schools and colleges. It is deliberately placed to raise the profile of courses in the subject group.
