Rammina Yassaie

Dr Rammina Yassaie MBChB (Hons) MA PGCE

Senior Lecturer in Clinical Leadership

Summary

I joined Sheffield Hallam in 2022 as a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Leadership, having worked clinically as a medical doctor for over a decade. Based in the Centre for Leadership in Health and Social Care, I am module leader for Leading People and Teams, Systems Leadership and Leading Change. I am passionate about compassionate, inclusive and eco-ethical leadership, and deeply committed to empowering others to recognise their potential as leaders and agents of change.

About

Empowering and developing others as clinical leaders is most definitely my 'why'. I strongly believe in leading with humanity and cultivating leaders that do the same. I have significant experience in the creation, delivery and facilitation of leadership development education for multi-professional colleagues across health and social care, having worked as a freelance leadership development practitioner for five years prior to joining Sheffield Hallam.

I am a medical doctor by background having trained initially in Paediatrics, followed by General Practice. My leadership experiences are extensive and across multiple different organisations - including union representation, organisational leadership and systems leadership.

I have worked closely with the NHS Leadership Academy, the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management and Health Education England, supporting the development of clinical fellowships in leadership and exploring effective strategies to engage a wider audience in the value of leadership in health and social care. I am interested in finding creative ways to explore leadership and making it a topic that is exciting and accessible for all.

I am a passionate public speaker and have been invited to lead workshops at regional, national and international conferences, specifically on collective, compassionate and inclusive leadership.

I am also deeply passionate about sustainable healthcare and ensuring planetary health is incorporated into clinical curriculum along with the principles of eco-ethical leadership.
