Sarah Lacey FHEA, PGCert (Teaching in Higher Education), MSc, BSc, BA

Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy

Summary

I am senior lecturer in occupational therapy and am currently our practice-based learning lead. I enjoy teaching about working with children and young people, neurological rehabilitation, and professional practice skills.

I have researched on the use of mobile applications for the management of fatigue in multiple sclerosis, and on the experience of using Lycra orthoses. My current research focuses on the use of simulated and hybrid placement learning experiences for Occupational Therapy students.

About

I joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2021, taking over as practice-based learning lead in 2022. Prior to this I worked clinically with children and young people within special educational needs, and with adults with a range of neurological diagnoses. I have a background in leadership, having worked as a team leader and service manager in a previous role. I obtained my MSc (post-registration) in Occupational Therapy in 2-2016 and I am currently working towards Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

I received the Vice-Chancellor’s award and Outstanding Academic Advisor award in 2024, and was the winner of the University Inspirational Teacher and Outstanding Academic Advisor awards in 2023.
