Simon Urquhart

Dr Simon Urquhart PhD, MEng, MSc

Senior Lecturer in Future Transportation

A member of staff since 2012, my teaching subjects include Finite Element Analysis, Automotive Forensic Engineering, Vehicle Technology, Structural Analysis, and Vehicle Dynamics. Research topics includes the Forensic Reconstruction of Automotive Incidents, the Effectiveness of Head-based Protective Equipment, and Drone Design & Deployment.

I first came to Sheffield Hallam as a Research Student in 2010, to make the best use of our established Forensic facilities. Under the guidance of Prof. Alan Smith, I became involved in reconstructing Automotive Incidents. This then led to a full-time post as a Lecturer, and then Senior Lecturer in 2015. In 2023 I joined the Future Transportation Group, and in 2024 I became the Student Recruitment lead for Automotive Engineering.
