Summary

EUR ING Dr. Siva Kumar Subramaniam is a Lecturer in Electronics at the School of Engineering and Built Environment at Sheffield Hallam University. He is a European Engineer and holds Chartered Engineer status, awarded by the UK Engineering Council and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET UK). He has worked at three universities over 18 years, gaining extensive experience in the development and delivery of a broad range of subjects within electronics engineering. His research interests include wireless sensor networks (WSN), consumer electrical/electronic systems and manufacturing optimisation systems, with a strong record of scholarly publications.

About

EUR ING Dr. Siva Kumar Subramaniam earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering and Electronic Research from Brunel University London, where his research concentrated on applications within the oil and gas pipeline/refinery sectors. Dr. Siva’s professional credentials are further distinguished by his Chartered Engineer status, awarded by the UK Engineering Council through the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), as well as his European Engineer (EUR ING) designation. He is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE).

Throughout his career, Dr. Siva has made significant contributions to research and development, including leadership roles in R&D projects, authorship of over 100 technical papers and the development over 10 innovative products. His technical expertise is centered on wireless sensor networks (WSN), with a specialisation in the IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15.4 standards. Additionally, he works in system integration, manufacturing optimisation and consumer electrical/electronics systems. Over an 18-year career spanning both academia and industry, he has built and sustained strong industrial collaborations, applying his extensive knowledge to drive technological innovation and practical advancements.

Beyond his academic achievements, Dr Siva has demonstrated entrepreneurial leadership. In 2021, he co-founded IIOTSME Sdn. Bhd., a spin-off company with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka focused on customised IoT-based engineering innovation solutions, where he serves as Technical and Project Manager.
