Doctor Tina Harness is the Head of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange for Sheffield Business School. She is responsible for the strategic oversight and delivery of the School's RIKE strategy, delivered through the combination of teaching, research and business engagement to develop strong societal impact.

About

As an experienced academic leader, Tina's career spans more than 25 years in higher education, 15 of those in senior leadership roles, across multiple Universities, taking responsibility for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, locally and across the Universities she has worked in. In addition to her current role as the Head of Research, Innovation and Knowledge exchange for Sheffield Business School, she has also undertaken a broad variety of roles during her lengthy academic career. She joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2016 as Deputy Head of Department, and became Head of Department of Management in 2020, managing a large team of academic colleagues (fte. 125+). She has led a broad range of University strategic initiatives, including significant portfolio review, academic work planning projects and design and implementation of new courses.

Her research interests are focused on human resource management, concentrating more recently on diversity, inclusion and responsible practice. She has a Doctorate in Strategic Human Resource Management. She is a highly experienced academic, teaching students from Foundation through to post-graduate / professional level. She is an academic member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Tina engages externally through consultancy, external examining and examining Doctoral students. She also supports other Universities, via being a member of validation panels, and acting as an advisor for accreditations. Through the various internal roles she has engaged with collaborative partners to develop the curriculum, ensured high quality in the academic provision, and managed large teams to effectively implement University and localised strategies. She is responsible for local decision making in relation to REF, research impact and knowledge exchange strategies.
