  • About

I am a lecturer in Operating Department Practice lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. I am mainly involved in teaching applied science and research elements of the course, and am module lead for the second year applied science module.

I qualified as an Operating Department Practitioner from Sheffield Hallam in 2010 and was awarded the Swann Morton award for academic excellence. I have worked in a number of hospitals gaining experience working in different specialities including areas outside of theatre such as intensive care, burns unit, interventional radiology, and accident and emergency at a major trauma centre. Having a background in science and education, and already completed a PGCE prior to training as an ODP, I was invited to teach lectures at SHU as a visiting specialist lecturer. I also undertook MSc study in Advanced Professional Development which I completed shortly after joining Hallam.

I joined as a lecturer in 2015. As well as teaching, my roles include admissions tutor for the course, and I have become involved with the Athena Swan project. In 2016 I became a review panel member for the Journal of Perioperative Practice. I am currently working towards gaining fellowship with the Higher Education Academy.
