About

I qualified as an Operating Department Practitioner from Sheffield Hallam University gaining the Swann Morton award for academic excellence following completion of my BSc (dual hons) in Biochemistry and Genetics, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Secondary school Science with Qualified Teacher Status.

I have worked in a number of areas of clinical practice including outside areas such as intensive care, burns unit, interventional radiology, and accident and emergency at a major trauma centre. My main area of clinical practice was specialising in obstetrics. Whilst in clinical practice, I undertook work at SHU as a specialist visiting lecturer and started my MSc in Advanced Professional Development which I completed in 2015 shortly after joining SHU as a full time lecturer.

As a senior lecturer I currently hold the role of Admission Lead for the ODP team. I teach across a variety of modules including applied science, research, writing for publication and interprofessional education.

I am a peer reviewer for the Journal of Perioperative Practice and the International Journal of Practice-based Learning in Health and Social Care.
