About
Professor Samuel Grogan has been appointed as the University’s new Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Sam is a Professor of Higher Education Leadership and was previously Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience at Loughborough University. In that role, he had executive oversight for academic quality and standards of the taught portfolio alongside executive responsibility for the wider education and student experience. In addition, Sam has overseen areas of Loughborough’s Enterprise and Innovation ecosystem, bringing research together with business incubation and funding networks. He has also been engaged in the strategic development of research to optimise future REF performance.
Prior to his role at Loughborough, Sam was Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education at Salford University, where he spent ten years in senior academic leadership roles. Externally, Sam has excellent experience of working with industry, government and regional partners to demonstrate the role of universities as anchor institutions and their contribution to growth.
