On June 6th the BMRC held a careers conference aimed at PhD students. Talks were given by Sheffield Hallam alumni and professionals from different areas of science. Representatives from the Hallam careers service were also in attendance to give advice and guidance to students. Talks on career pathways were given by

• Dr Kirsti Newton, Senior Lecturer in Molecular Cell Biology, Sheffield Hallam University
• Dr Tom Sayers, Head of Molecular Immunotherapy Group, Centre for Cancer Research, Maryland, USA

The day was well attended by BMRC PhD students and it is hoped that this will now become an annual event in the department every summer.
