Doctoral student Ieva Palubeckaite received a £550 travel grant from the Biochemical Society for a two-week lab visit to Leiden, Netherlands, in order to do some quantitative peptide and protein mass spectrometry imaging.
Ieva will be at Leiden University from 13th-24th March working with Liam Mcdonnell and his postdoc Bram Heijs. This visit will give her the opportunity to use their high mass resolution FT-ICR-MS instrument to analyse our three dimensional cancer model and to try to quantify the exact amount of peptides inside these samples using the standard array method. As the peptide standard mix is very complex we wanted to see if the higher mass resolution is capable of separating all the masses and produce better quantitative results.
