Our assistive technology can be used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional abilities of a person.
Note taking software
While you can take notes with any word processing software, or even on paper, special note taking software exists that helps make your notes more useful and effective, such as by linking your written notes and audio recordings of the session.
Screencasts
A screencast is a video recording of what is displayed on your screen (e.g. laptop, PC, tablet or mobile screen), often including a voiceover.
Turnitin
Turnitin checks your submitted work for similarities to other academic work in a database. When you upload your work to the Turnitin section of a Blackboard site, you’ll receive an originality report.
Microsoft Office Specialist
Microsoft Office Specialist is an internationally recognised qualification that looks great to future employers. And it’s completely free for students to take. Even if you’re assured of your own skills, MOS will prove that to future employers by having it ready on your CV, or with a digital certificate and badge, you can display on your Linkedin profile.

Recorded Lectures
Having access to recorded lectures from your modules throughout your studies can be very useful when revising or revisiting materials.
Teams
Microsoft Teams is a collaborative tool that brings together applications, messages and webinars in one place. Teams will be available at course level and not module level so it will be a central place where you and students on your course can come together.
PebblePad
PebblePad is a versatile digital platform where you can share and publish content online with users including other students on your course and your academic tutors. You can record audio or video, upload documents and pictures, or embed content from other social media platforms.
Panopto
Panopto is a media hosting tool that will allow you to review video and audio content that your tutor has created online in your Blackboard modules. You will have access to a range of functionalities like notes, captions, discussions and many more. It can also be used for assessment purposes where you can create videos in Panopto and submit them to be assessed.
