Introduction
Although not a formal reporting module, this will enable you to develop a critical understanding of imaging pathways for a breadth of musculoskeletal pathologies and injuries.
Using diagnostic images and local and national policies and frameworks, you will develop underpinning knowledge and skills in the identification of normal and abnormal appearances of the skeletal system.

- Those working in clinical settings where musculoskeletal radiography has a role.
- Qualified professionals need to registered with their professional bodies e.g. NMC, GMC, HCPC
What you’ll learn
Recognise normal and abnormal appearances of projectional radiographic images of the skeletal system and formulate a diagnosis or differential diagnoses as a written professional opinion.
A systematic approach to evaluate musculoskeletal diagnostic images.
Identify the range of normal appearances versus normal variants and pathological or traumatic appearances
Skills you’ll gain
- Technical Image evaluation.
- Image interpretation and commenting skills.
- Differentiation of normal, normal variations and pathological or traumatic appearances
How you’ll learn
Asynchronous learning materials are 100% Distance Learning, supplemented with live online drop-in seminars. Communication via online platforms throughout the module. Learning materials are created with the use of industry standard image viewing software.

Applicants should have a relevant professional health qualification and work experience, with workplace opportunities and organisational support for learning, evidenced in the application form.
Qualified professionals need to registered with their professional bodies e.g. NMC, GMC, HCPC.
Students must have reliable internet access and supply IELTS of 6.5 or above (or equivalent)

Attendance
Delivery Method:
Synchronous online learning (distance learning). Take part in live, timetabled online sessions using tools like video calls and virtual classrooms. You’ll learn in real time with tutors and other students, with no need to attend campus for teaching or assessments.
